19km outside Lithuania’s capital the microbus comes to a halt. Ahead lies ‘Europas Parkas’ , a sculpture park set on 55 hectares designed by a young sculptress in 1991 to represent the different countries of Europe.
Set amongst giant pines my eye is drawn immediately to a mini maze made entirely of old TVs…further along the path a huge armchair constructed of metal and stone nestles into the landscape beside a pond. The scale of the works is enormous, the materials many and varied, and everywhere the faint rustle of the wind in the forest rises and falls.
